Margaret Stevenson .... Contemporary Australian Artist
"I paint to express the profound enjoyment and deep connection I feel towards the Australian landscape especially the outback country. I like to think that I offer people the opportunity to be present with both the immediate physicality of the land as well a its spirituality"
Stevenson's highly skilled use of traditional watercolour techniques enables her to truly interpret the ever changing moods and atmospheric effects of the vast Australian landscape. It is with the same skill and sensitivity to the medium that Stevenson captures the enigmatic qualities of discarded remnants of our past.
"I am attracted to places in the country where there is a wealth of inspiration - old sheds full of rusted metal, knotted chains covered in dusty spider webs ... burnt-red sandhills heavy with silence and majesty ..."
